Amazon’s Roku Killer
Amazon have once again delivered another product to disrupt the marketplace. The Amazon Fire Stick is a direct compete against the likes of the already well served HDMI based media player market.
And we are well served for choice with both Roku and Google delivering very good products. But once again Amazon brings something with just a little extra than the competition.
The Fire Stick packs more memory, storage and features than the competition for a price that is hard to argue with. But its the integration with the wider device eco system that has us all excited. Voice control apps for your Android (IOS Coming Soon) and another app for your Kindle Tablet or Fire Phone which allows a second screen experience to your movies, powered by IMDB.
And then its the integration into the other Amazon services that make this very compelling. Ok so not super great if your outside of the USA, however the app support does allow you to get a very low cost media end point for services like Plex, with added TV support for HDCP.
And then there are the Games.. This is seriously a lot of magic for one small device.
Back to back with the competitors it looks like a serious thorn in the side of Google and Roku.
