Hacking Wireless Keyboards with Mousejack
Bastille Networks, a company that focuses on Enterprise Security, have always taken a much broader approach to security than a lot of INFOSEC companies. Their focus is on a wide range of Airborne attack vectors which are often overlooked in general InfoSec practices.
Recently Bastille released details on MouseJack, a process which allows injection of keyboard and mouse controls to most popular wireless Keyboards and Mice. Yes you heard right injection of Keyboard and Mouse controls. To explain more watch the video.
Along with the details on how this happens, Bastille have released source code and technical specs on how to do this yourself.
While a lot of vendors have responded to this issue with firmware patches, there will be countless units that are vulnerable to this style of attack. Geeksphere are currently experimenting with this technique and will have some videos showing the process. However in the meantime patch your wireless keyboards, and if you cant throw them out.
