Dell set to Axe 15000 Jobs
Dell are poised to start a new restructuring project this week which, according to a leak to the Register, will result in up to 15000 jobs being displaced at the tech manufacturing giant. Since Michael Dell successfully returned the company back to private ownership a process of reorganising Dell back into areas of strength has been underway.
With the falling margins in traditional desktop devices and tough mobile market dominated by Samsung, Apple and Google, Dell has begun focusing heavily on its enterprise offerings. Dell is one of the primary providers of hardware for services such as Azure.
Its a tough time for Dell as divisions who have already undergone a rigours downsizing effort are being asked to reduce headcount a further 15%. Only time will tell just how much of an impact this will have on the future make up of Dell.
