@kimdotcom vs 100
Kim Dotcom will battle 100 people in 100 games of Call of Duty Modern Warfare 3 on Sunday 29th of September at DIGITAL NATIONZ, NZ’s first Digital Entertainment Expo.
As well as taking on lucky kiwi gamers, Dotcom, , who is the former number 1 champion of CoDMW3, will take on 25 NZ celebrities and international event speakers at the event, which will be held at Auckland’s Vector Arena on the last weekend of September. Those lined up so far to take on the champ includeTV3’s David Farrier; George FM’s Nick D; Shortland Street actor Pua Magasiva; TVNZ U producer and face of current Telecom campaign “Tech in a Sec” Matt Gibb; Benson Russell, Senior Designer at Naughty Dog; Jay Hosfelt, lead animator at EPIC GAMES; and Michael Read, a producer at game developer Crytek, with more to come.
For each celebrity Kim Dotcom defeats, he will donate $100 to charity, and he’s eager to get started: “This is something completely new for me that I haven’t done before. I can’t wait to see the calibre of MW3 players New Zealand has to offer, then play them and hopefully beat them. But either way, expect a great show and a lot of fun at DIGITAL NATIONZ“, says Dotcom.
The public will get their chance to play against Kim Dotcom too, but they will need to secure a ticket online before the 22nd of August and then register through the DIGITAL NATIONZ website (www.digitalnationz.com) to see if they are one of the lucky ones getting a shot at the title.
Dotcom will also feature as a guest speaker on one of the DIGITAL NATIONZ Sunday panel discussions: “BEYOND NEXT GEN: What will be the next evolution and why?” This panel is hosted by David Farrier and features TVNZ’s Gadget Guy John Buckley, Michael Read, producer at Crytek and DIGITAL NATIONZ Event Manager Peter Hall. “We’re super stoked that Kim is taking time out of his busy schedule to join us at DIGITAL NATIONZ. He is known throughout the gaming community as a fierce player and to have him participate at this level against the public and talk about the future of gaming is awesome!” says Hall.
Attendees will be able to catch all the action on a range LG screens, including the new ULTRA HD range as well as the stunning OLED displays, setup around the seating area of the arena.
